Added the transcript and YouTube link for the
Conan O'Brien Emmy Award parody of "Ya Got Trouble".
3-13-06
There's a new pool table in River City.
Could be you-know-what with a capital you-know-what!
Check it out here.
5-18-05
Finally did some updating here again.
Fixed some bad links and moved a few things around.
I'll try to add some new content soon,
but I can't promise a timeframe on that.
2-17-03
Well, last night was the premiere of the new movie.
What did you think? Here is my review.
I was going to go into more detail and make it a more
'professionally written' review, but I just don't
have the time or inclination right now to do that.
That expresses my feelings about the film well enough.
1-1-03
Added lyrics for "Pickalittle (reprise)" and the reprise
for "76 Trombones/Goodnight My Someone",
which should now definitely be all of the lyrics.
(Well, except for "Ice cream, ice cream..."
and "Columbia, Gem of the Ocean")
- - -
I added reviews from each of the Broadway productions.
Also added a pictures page with a few basic Music Man pictures.
Please let me know if you have other pics
that relate to the major productions or films.
- - -
Here's a brief excerpt from an LA Times article
about the new ABC movie-
"Music Man" had a typical several years' long gestation,
starting in Zadan's Hollywood Hills living room in about 1998,
just before the revival of Meredith Willson's 1957 hit.
The producers held a star-cast read-through with Crystal as Hill;
Bernadette Peters as Marian; Shirley Jones, who played Marian in the 1962 film,
as Mrs. Paroo; Christine Ebersol and Edward Asner, among others;
and catering from Greenblatt's Deli on Sunset Boulevard.
- - -
I'll be doing a few more updates and additions soon,
but then I'll have to take a rest from here for awhile again
to work on the production of my musical,
but I will be checking back and adding some things
about the new ABC movie, including my review.
12-26-02
I've added a full character description list,
and a scene-by-scene synopsis to the Info page.
- - -
Finally added the rest of the lyrics.
12-23-02
The TV movie is debuting Sunday, February 16, 2003.
Click here for the Internet Movie Database listing,
which includes the cast list and links for photos, etc.
(note that the 'release dates' listed there are not correct)

I'm sad to say that 'The Music Man Online' website,
will no longer be running as of January 1.
Many thanks to Scott and Christina for their wonderful work there.
That site was without a doubt the best "Music Man" website.
I would try to pick up some of the 'slack', so to speak,
but my time and interests are still not allowing me
to do much more here, as has been the case for some time.
I will try to post some updates about the upcoming TV movie,
and will be doing a review of the show after it airs.
I may also add a message board to this site,
but I can't promise that any time soon.
I will also try to make the info on this site more comprehensive,
to include all of the lyrics and role descriptions (singing range, etc.).
I know a lot of people are looking for those things
when doing auditions of the show,
and it would be good to have it all here.
- - -
For those of you within range of Western New York,
you may like to see a new original musical by a writer
heavily influenced by "The Music Man". Okay, it's me... :o)
My musical, "A Week In The Life", is being presented
for 11 shows at the Alleyway Theater in Buffalo, NY,
from May 16 to June 7, 2003.
Click here for more information about the show.
- - -
Hey, whaddya know? I've added some 'content' to the site again!
On the Parodies page are the lyrics to the
Forbidden Broadway version of "Ya Got Trouble".
5-7-02
There is more information now about the upcoming TV movie,
which, as far as I know, is still scheduled to debut September 10 on ABC.
In addition to Mathew Broderick as Harold Hill and Kristen Chenoweth as Marian,
the film will feature Victor Garber as Mayor Shinn, Molly Shannon as Mrs. Shinn,
David Aaron Baker as Marcellus and Debra Monk as Mrs. Paroo.
Filming is expected to begin in Toronto in late May and continue into July,
with Jeff Bleckner directing and Kathleen Marshall doing the choreography.

The "Music Man" message board at musicals.net is now back up.
3-6-02
The debut of the new television movie of "The Music Man",
starring Matthew Broderick as Harold Hill,
and Kristen Chenoweth as Marian Paroo,
will be Tuesday, September 10 on ABC.
After hearing "The Producers" cast recording,
I'm not exactly enthralled with Broderick as a singer,
but he is a great comic actor, and should have
an interesting take on the role, and should sound
fine on things like "Ya Got Trouble".
Regardless, I'll be excited to see this,
after hearing rumors of it for so long...
11-5-01
If you are in the Western New York (Buffalo) area this weekend,
come and see me as Harold Hill, and my wife Roseann as 'Maud Dunlop',
in a production of The Music Man at the Maryvale HS Auditorium,
1050 Maryvale Dr., Cheektowaga NY.
Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, Nov. 10 at 3:00 and 7:30 pm
Call 754-2201 for tix or get them at the door!
10/10/01
Ok, so forget what I wrote below...
I'm still going to do some updates here.
I think that doing the show myself
has reinvigorated my interest.
Please don't expect too many updates, or too often,
but I'll do what I can, when I can.
- - -
Many thanks to my wife, Eulalie MacK--
er, I mean, Roseann <grin>,
for her design of the cartoon trombonist.
9/7/01
Well, I can file this under 'dream come true'.
I'll be doing the part of Harold Hill at our church's
production of "Music Man" this November.
It's not exactly Broadway, but it is the "Music Man",
and a part I've always wanted to do, regardless.
And we've got a good cast and director,
and it's already been a fun time rehearsing,
and should be a solid production.
If any of you are in the Western New York area,
or will be this November, come see the show
at the Maryvale High School Theater,
on Friday, Nov. 9, and two shows on Sat. the 10th.
I'll post more specific ticket info when I know it...
- - -
The latest news about the TV movie is that it has
been postponed, due to various scheduling conflicts,
including Mathew Broderick's run in "The Producers".
It is still in the plans to do, but nobody's sure when...
The word is that Kristin Chenoweth will be Marian,
and not Broderick's wife Sarah Jessica Parker,
as was previously suggested.
- - -
The "Music Man" National Tour will be starting
on October 10 in Des Moines, IA.
(I'll try to post the rest of the dates soon...)
Equity is urging people to boycott the shows,
as they are using all non-equity actors.
7/23/01
Most of the lyrics are now up again.
4/24/01
Goodnight, my someones...
It's been a long while since I've updated here...
Got a heck of a lot going on, and at this point I think
I'm going to officially call it a night on this site.
It'll still be here, as it is, but I just can't spend any more time on it.
I'll refer you hereafter to the incredibly thorough and creative
'Music Man Online' site.
That site has become everything that I initially hoped this would,
but I never had the time or ability, and don't have the inclination anymore,
particularly seeing what a wonderful job they're doing over there.
I feel good to have at least gotten the ball rolling, perhaps,
as there were no significant "Music Man" sites before this one,
but now there's a decent amount of
MM stuff online, and now I'll have to leave it to the others,
in particular the Rouze's at Music Man Online,
to keep the trumpets blaring about the show, as they are so ably doing!
I'll certainly always love and appreciate "The Music Man"
(and I'm auditioning for H. Hill in a local production this summer!),
and it was a wonderful experience being a small part
of the promotion for the Broadway production,
and doing the interview with John Skipper,
and getting to know and connect with so many people
with interest and involvement in the show,
but for now I'll have to say 'goodnight, my someones',
and leave this as it is, at least for the foreseeable future...
Thank you all again for your warm comments,
and your tremendous interest in the site and in the show.

After exactly a year, Craig Bierko will be stepping down from the role
of Harold Hill in the Broadway Revival after the May 6 show.
Taking over will be Eric McCormack, best known as Will on TV's Will and Grace.
- - -
Still nothing much is known about the upcoming TV production,
other than that it is supposed to happen at some point,
with Matthew Broderick definitely starring as Harold Hill.
10/28/00
Click here for my interview with John C. Skipper,
author of the great new book
Meredith Willson: The Unsinkable Music Man.
- - -
Well, it's official now. ABC and Disney are producing a television movie
of The Music Man, starring Matthew Broderick as Harold Hill,
and possibly his wife, Sarah Jessica Parker (Broderick?) as Marian.
I'll be posting more information about that as it becomes available.
10/1/00
Well, it's been a while since I've updated anything here,
but I've been busy with many other things.
I promise some more updates in the near future,
and for now, there is information about the long-awaited
Meredith Willson biography- The Unsinkable Music Man.
Soon, I will be posting a personal interview of mine
with the book's author, John C. Skipper.
7/7/00
I've finally finished and posted my review of the revival.
6/26/00
I'm aaaaalmost done with my review of the show.
Should be posted in a few days.
Of course, that's what I said on the 12th!
But then I hadn't actually started writing it,
and thought it'd only take a few days.
It's nearly complete now.
6/12/00
Just added this page, to keep you informed as far
as what is new on the site, as well as
what is happening in general, related to the "Music Man".
I probably won't be doing too many updates here for
everything that's going on with the Broadway Revival,
because the official site for that is already
pretty comprehensive in that regard.
I will relay any important updates and info for that, though,
such as the fact that the CD from the production
goes on sale tomorrow (June 13). You can order it here.
- - -
Finally saw the show myself this past Thursday,
and it was quite a wonderful experience!
I'll be posting my review in a few days...
